GOLDEN VALLEY CO. Golden Valley County is located
at the base of the Snowy Mountains in the central part of Montana.
The landscape is dotted with sagebrush, greasewood, native
grasses, cottonwood trees, pine trees, rolling hills, and sandstone rim
rocks. Buffalo and Native Americans once made this area their
home. Chief Joseph of the Nez Perce stopped at what is now Ryegate
in Sept. of 1877 on his doomed trek to Canada. Some of the
wildlife still visible in the area are: elk, deer (we are known
for our white albino deer), antelope, mountain lion, bobcats,
porcupine, gophers, badgers, and the occasional rattlesnake
